Privacy Policy

Calculator inputs: All mortgage calculations run locally in your browser. When you use the calculator and navigate between tabs, we may record certain input values (ZIP code, state, home price, gross income, and pre-tax deductions) to understand how people use the tool so we can improve our content and features. You can prevent this by not entering values into the calculator.

Email address: If you use the “Email Report” feature (coming soon), we collect your email address solely to deliver the requested report. It is used once and not stored after delivery.

Session & usage data: We collect anonymous session data including pages visited, time spent on each section, and feature usage (PDF exports, CSV downloads). See the “Usage Data & Analytics” section below for full details.

We collect anonymous session data to understand how people use True Cost so we can improve performance and make informed decisions about new features. Specifically, we may collect:

• Pages visited and time spent on each section of the calculator
• Feature usage such as PDF exports and CSV downloads
• When you navigate away from the mortgage calculator tab, we may record the input values you entered (ZIP code, state, home price, gross income, and pre-tax deductions)

This data is not linked to your IP address, name, email address, or any other personally identifying information. Each session is identified only by a randomly generated ID that exists in memory for the duration of your visit and is never written to cookies or local storage.

We do not sell, share, or transfer any user session data. Its sole purpose is to help us see how users interact with the site so we can improve it.

We also use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure site performance and traffic. These tools collect anonymized page-view and performance data and do not store personally identifiable information.

You can prevent calculator input data from being recorded by not entering values into the calculator.

We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information. We do not build user profiles. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. We do not require account creation to use the calculator. We do not store IP addresses in our analytics tables (IP is used only transiently for rate limiting and is never persisted).

Email delivery is processed by our email service provider (currently Resend). They receive your email address only for the purpose of delivering your requested report and are bound by their own privacy policy.

Our website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, page requested) as part of normal web hosting operations.

You have the right to know what personal information we collect (described above), the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of sale of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

Since we do not store calculator inputs and email addresses are not retained after delivery, there is typically nothing to delete. If you believe we hold your data, contact us. We do not sell personal information. We will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.
